From the Tournament Director

The Vallarta Classic is probably the most enjoyable tournament you will ever participate in.

The Vallarta Classic Soccer Tournament was started in the mid 1990's by Adrian Eyre, who was living in Seattle at the time. He had the idea to combine vacation, friends, sun and soccer in the beautiful Mexican city of Puerto Vallarta. Sadly, in October of 2003, Adrian passed away and I was asked by many teams to "pick up the ball" and keep the tournament alive. My passion for the city of Puerto Vallarta, my many years working with Adrian and my career as a International Group Travel Coordinator made it a natural transition. I am very proud to be the Tournament Director.

One of the main goals of the tournament is to promote the people of Puerto Vallarta. We suggest that our tournament teams bring gently used children's soccer gear (cleats, jerseys, shin guards, balls, etc...) and hand them out to the many children that come to the fields to watch the games. Local men's teams participate in the tournament along with the Mexican Navy who play the co-ed teams in a friendly match up. The fields we use are located out in neighboring villages, so be prepared for all kinds of field conditions. All of the staff and referees are local and the setting for the BBQ Party
on Sunday is a ranch in the hills, out in the countryside that surrounds Puerto Vallarta. Part of your package price, or player/friends & family fee, goes to support the local people. Everyone involved in the tournament is given a T-shirt and the opportunity to come to the BBQ on Sunday.

Another unique feature of this tournament is the emphasis on vacation, friends and fun. Of course every team in every division wants their name on the coveted trophy, but first and foremost is to have the most fun you can possibly fit into four days. Many people come early, or extend their days in order to fit in all of the other activities Puerto Vallarta has to offer. All in all it is one big party.

Please read the testimonials for reviews, and feel free to contact me if you wish to speak to some of the players who have been to past tournaments. I would like to thank all of the teams who have continued to come every year and who have encouraged and supported me in so many ways. Adrian is greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, but I am grateful for the opportunity to continue and improve "the most fun tournament of the year"! I'm looking forward to seeing old friends, meeting new ones, dancing until dawn and watching some amazing soccer matches!
